Hydrogel dressings AQUA-GEL are an aqueous composition of natural and synthetic polymers such as: polyvinylopyrrolidone, polyethylene glycol and agar, crosslinked by a beam of electrons. Due to radiation processing the product is fully sterile. In the end-use form it represents sheet, 3-4 mm thick, containing over 90% of water.
The technology of production was made in the Insitute of Applied Radiation Chemistry of Technical University of Lodz.
Hydrogel dressing is transparency, elastic and flexible, but mechanically strong enough, absorbs effectively the body fluids and prevent their loss, acts as an efficient barrier against bacteria, adheres well to the wound but stronger to healthy skin, enables the oxygen to penetrate through the volume of dressing to the wound surface.
