BurnTec hydrogel dressing is a new, unconventional mean, facilitating the treatment of:

• burn wounds
• abrasions
• all kinds of skin damages in which humid medium is favourable

BurnTec dressings are an aqueous composition of natural and synthetic polymers such as: polyvinylopyrrolidone, polyethylene glycol and agar, crosslinked by a beam of electrons. Due to radiation processing the product is fully sterile. In the end-use form it represents sheet, 3 mm thick, containing over 90% of water. To ensure proper mechanical strength the gel is reinforced by fiber matrix.

In case of burns without visible damage of skin cooling the injury place takes the most important action, whole wound should be covered with BurnTec dressing as soon as possible. There is no need to pre-cool the burn injury with water when using BurnTec hydrogel dressings.

In that way the distraction of the skin physiological processes and bubbles formation are prevented. The BurnTec ensures proper exchange of heat and moisture balance. It transfers the heat from the burnt skin tissue into gel and cools by convection and dissipates heat over gel surface. The use of dressings leads to considerable pain relief, to reduce the continuation of tissue destruction.
BurnTec makes an effective barrier against external infections as well.
